AVNTGARD BAG — Circular Design Capsule - R&D project 2022
Context & Challenge
Every temporary structure leaves a physical footprint of industrial waste. Confronted with the circular urgency of trade fair architecture, AVNTGARD sought to close the materials loop. The challenge was to intercept high-resistance exhibition waste and re-engineer it into a premium, functional capsule collection of urban lifestyle accessories, shifting the narrative from disposable architecture to permanent utility.
The Recognition: German Design Award 2025 Winner- Excellent Product Design- Sports, Outdoor Activities and Leisure
Technical & Product Execution
Industrial Upcycling: Direct salvaging and processing of heavy-duty, waterproof PVC tarpaulins recovered from our decommissioned exhibition setups. Each piece carries unique structural graphics and industrial scars from its previous architectural life.
The Modular Capsule: A calculated product family architecture consisting of 6 technical backpacks, 2 minimalist laptop cases, and structural utility keychains, engineered for the daily friction of metropolitan transit.
Functional Rigor: Leveraging the extreme intrinsic properties of exhibition-grade materials—absolute tear resistance, complete waterproofing, and industrial-grade rigidity—to deliver high-performance consumer goods without extracting new raw materials.
Result
A concept that bridges architectural debris with high-end product design. The capsule successfully demonstrates how the ephemeral materials of temporary spaces can be reincarnated into permanent, functional, and culturally relevant metropolitan assets.
