LILIA & Friends — Groove Tank Live - London, 2025
Context & Challenge
The debut night of the London collective LILIA & Friends at Groove Tank Live (Containerville) — a narrow shipping container converted into a micro-club and broadcasting hub. The venue uses a fixed camera to livestream emerging DJs to a global digital audience.
The Goal
Design an atmospheric signature that maximizes physical intimacy for a 30-person crowd while translating into a powerful visual trademark on digital screens.

The debut night of the London collective LILIA & Friends at Groove Tank Live (Containerville) — a narrow shipping container converted into a micro-club and broadcasting hub. The venue uses a fixed camera to livestream emerging DJs to a global digital audience.
The Goal
Design an atmospheric signature that maximizes physical intimacy for a 30-person crowd while translating into a powerful visual trademark on digital screens.
Spatial & Technical Execution
Absolute Darkness: We eliminated all ambient venue lighting, plunging the narrow corridor into total darkness to erase its rigid structural boundaries.
Synesthetic Coding: The night was sound-curated around Drum & Bass. We mapped its hyper-fast breakbeats and sub-bass frequencies onto their visible light equivalents: violet, magenta, and deep blue.
The Grid: Six custom 2-meter vertical LED strips were installed symmetrically along the corrugated steel walls (3 per side, spaced 1.5m apart), driven by a custom-programmed control unit running kinetic light algorithms (The Tunnel, The Snake, Blackout-Strobes).
Pop Materials: We deployed high-contrast LILIA & Friends guerrilla stickers across the location and distributed custom handheld prop boards to the crowd. These boards caught the LED flashes, turning the dancing crowd into an active visual medium for the live camera stream.
