METROFLEX — One Shoe, More Souls - R&D Project 2026

Context & Challenge
An internal R&D industrial design exploration scaling AVNTGARD’s spatial and structural principles down to wearable technology. The metropolitan lifestyle demands constant adaptation, yet footwear remains physically rigid. The challenge was to engineering a hyper-flexible sneaker built for the dual rhythm of the city—a single product possessing "more souls," capable of fluidly transitioning from high-performance daywork to nocturnal nightlife without sacrificing form or style.

Technical & Product Execution
Mono-Material 3D Printing: The entire outer chassis of the shoe is manufactured as a single, seamless piece using advanced 3D printing technology. It is extruded using high-elasticity, fully recyclable TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) polymers, allowing absolute structural flexibility, torsion resistance, and an eco-conscious, mono-material lifecycle.
Interchangeable Modular Sock: Nestled inside the 3D-printed frame is a technical, highly breathable texturized inner sock. This liner is completely removable and interchangeable, allowing the user to swap textures and colors, unlocking multiple aesthetic and functional combinations.
3-Position Kinetic Tongue: The defining silhouette feature is an elongated, foldable front tongue engineered with a 3-stage mechanical flexibility. Inspired by the functional mechanics of vintage soccer boots folding over the laces, it can be adjusted into three distinct configurations:

Fully Extended: A sharp, vertical street/fashion statement.
Mid-Way: A balanced, technical mid-tier profile.
Completely Folded: A clean, streamlined, and formal configuration suitable for professional environments.

Result
A boundary-pushing footwear concept and an anthropological design manifesto. Metroflex successfully bridges industrial product design with subcultural utility, proving that a single aesthetic asset can physically and structurally adapt to the endless transition between corporate performance and nocturnal subcultural expression.
